The western part of Ys is very plain indeed. There are no monsters, no swamps, no fabulous mystical beasts, no gardens, and no meadows. This area is plainly forest, yet it is the one area that the Dryads allow hunting to take place. The Dryads themselves never hunt, yet they have recently opened up the forest to those who would. They realized that the forest is grand enough that the population of hunted animals wouldn't be in danger, and they see the need that meat-eaters have for them. Also, the Dryads carefully monitor the number of hunters that come into the forest, what they've killed, and what they've taken from the forest. Under no circumstances are fires to be built. A group of two or three Dryads stays with the band of hunters, yet out of sight, prepared with water if they should try to violate that rule.
